A school’s management information system (MIS) holds a vast amount of data, which if accurately maintained can be used to inform school improvement strategies and support a wide range of school management activities including processing statutory returns.

The Charging menu route enables you to apply and update individual charges against a pupil/student. These charges will accumulate until they are transferred either to an interim bill or to the main periodic bill.
The Billing menu provides you with the means to generate and produce periodic or interim bills. The system will normally generate one bill per pupil/student unless the payer has requested that all linked pupil/students be grouped together on one bill.

Before Fees Billing can be used for applying charges, processing Bills, transaction recording etc, it is vital that the settings and parameters of the Fees Billing software along with the creation and maintenance of Bill Payers are accurate in order that the school’s particular requirements are met.

The Transaction menu enable you to record Receipts, make amendments and process refunds. All non-Direct Debit payment types are processed via transactions such as Cash, Cheques and Electronic.

The Direct Debits menus enable the school to set up various direct debit types such as Termly or Monthly and apply these to the relevant Bill Payers. Schedules and Instalments are created and Letters sent to the Bill Payers. A BACS file is produced which can then be uploaded to the Bank for processing.

With the introduction of charging VAT on Independent School Fees, this short course is designed to guide the school through the set up and configuration requirements through to producing bills/invoices to aid the transition to handling VAT within the SIMS Fees Billing module.

This course covers the end of year procedures in FMS specifically for academies to enable the smooth closure of the accounts prior to year end.
